“How to Wear a Suit”

On Wednesday, August 21, we invited staff members from Aoyama Tailor, the professional suit retailer, to Toyo Language School for a special session on “How to Wear a Suit.”
The “proper way” to wear a suit can vary depending on one’s country, region, or even generation.
This time, the focus was on how to choose the right suit to make a good impression on interviewers at Japanese companies, and the staff kindly shared their insights with us.

First, TLS students appeared dressed in suits borrowed from Aoyama Tailor!
The participating students couldn’t help but exclaim, “Wow~~~!!”
With white shirts, perfectly fitting suits, neatly styled hair, and bright smiles,
anyone would think, “These are students who look professional and capable!”


The suit specialists then provided guidance on how to select suits like these and the important points to be aware of.
First, they explained the difference between fashion and grooming, as well as key points to consider when choosing a suit, such as shoulder width, jacket length, sleeve length, and the hem length of trousers or skirts.
It’s important to make a good impression both when standing and when sitting.
They also shared detailed grooming tips, such as not wearing too much perfume and keeping accessories simple.
They carefully explained not only the suit itself, but also each item worn, including ties, socks, shirts, shoes, bags, and other personal accessories.
Students listened attentively, learning how different tie colors can affect the overall impression.
Wearing a suit also naturally improves posture and makes one stand taller!

Students who tried on suits from Aoyama Tailor and participated in the session gave very positive feedback, saying things like “They were so comfortable to wear!”, “I look cool! (lol)”, and “I thought they would be hot, but surprisingly, they’re quite breathable!”
By actually trying on the suits, students seemed to gain a deeper understanding of the appeal of suits and the proper way to wear them.
If your suit doesn’t fit properly, you can take it to the store, and they will adjust it to the perfect size for you.

The session was eye-opening for everyone, whether they had never worn a suit before or had experience wearing one in their home country.

8月21日（水）にスーツの専門店「洋服の青山」のスタッフの方をお招きして、東洋言語学院の教室で「スーツの着方講座」を実施しました！
国や地域、年代によって「正しいスーツの着方」ってちょっと違いますよね。
今回は「日本企業の面接で面接官に良い印象をもってもらうためにどんなスーツを選んだらいいか！」に焦点をあて、お話をしてくださいました。

まずは、TLSの在校生が洋服の青山さんからお借りしたスーツ姿で登場！
参加した学生からは「おぉ～～～！！」と声が上がっていました。
白いシャツにジャストサイズの体にあったスーツ、整った髪に笑顔！
誰がみても「仕事ができそうなちゃんとした学生！」といった印象です。


そこからこういったスーツを選ぶためには、どんなポイントに気をつけたらいいのか、スーツ選びのプロフェッショナルから説明がありました。
まずはファッションと身だしなみの違い、スーツを選ぶ際の肩幅、ジャケットの長さ（着丈）、袖の長さ（袖丈）、パンツ・スカートの裾の長さ（裾丈）。
立っているときもそうですが、座っているときの印象も大事です！
また、身だしなみのマナーとして「香水はつけすぎない」「小物はシンプルにする」といった、細かいポイントまで教えてもらいました。
スーツだけでなく、ネクタイ、靴下、シャツ、靴、かばん、身に着けるもの、一つ一つ丁寧に説明を頂きました。
ネクタイの色でどう印象が変わるかなど、学生たちも真剣な表情で聞いていました。
スーツを着ると背筋も伸びますね！

洋服の青山のスーツを試着してセミナーに参加した学生たちからは、「着心地が良かった」「自分、かっこいい！（笑）」「暑いイメージだったけど意外と涼しい！」と大好評！
実際に着てみることで、スーツの魅力や正しい着方をより深く理解できたようです。
もし、自分が持っているスーツのサイズが合わないなら、お店に持っていけばちょうどいいサイズに直してくれるそうですよ。


最後は洋服の青山のスタッフの方と学生でパシャリ！
みなさんいい笑顔ですね！このスタイルで面接にいけば合格間違いなし！！
まだスーツを着たことがない人も、母国でスーツを着ていた、着たことがある人も目から鱗のセミナーでした。
