雲一つない天候に恵まれた１１月２４日（金）、
東京都江戸川区にある競技場で４年ぶりに東洋言語学院の運動会を開催しました

事前のアンケートでは普段からあまり運動をしていない学生が多かったため、
急な運動で怪我をしないように、学生の体力、
健康状態に合わせて様々な形での運動会に参加できる仕組みを作りました

青空の下整備された素晴らしい陸上トラックを全力で走りたい学生、
そして、ゆっくり歩きたい学生、運動は嫌いだけれど、
職員の日本語を通訳して全体に伝えてくれる学生、
初めての学生同士で作られたチームで綱引きに参加する学生、
勉強したばかりの日本語で大きな声で応援する学生もいれば、
自分の国の言葉で応援する学生もいました

そして、この運動会でこれだけは全員で参加しようと決めた種目は、
日本人は誰でもできるのに、留学生はだれもできないラジオ体操です
事前にラジオ体操の動画を共有し、学生達も自習をしてきて、本番を迎えました
日本人の職員のミスのないラジオ体操に驚きながら、
６００人が一緒にリズムに合わせて体を動かしました!

Sports day

On November 24th (Friday), blessed with cloudless weather,
Toyo Language School held its first sports day in four years at a stadium in Edogawa Ward, Tokyo.
According to a preliminary survey, there were many students who didn’t do much exercise on a regular basis, so we created a system that allows students to participate in various forms of sports events depending on their physical strength and health condition so that they don’t get injured due to sudden exercise.

There are students who want to run as hard as they can on well-maintained athletics track under the blue sky, students who want to walk slowly, students who didn’t like exercise but translated from Japanese to the whole group. Some students participated in a tug-of-war in organized teams, some cheered loudly in Japanese they had just learned, and others cheered in their own language.

The only event in the sports day that all the students decided to participate in together was the radio calisthenics, which all Japanese know about, but none of the international students do. A video of the radio exercises was shared in advance and the students studied it on their own before the event. The 600 people moved their bodies to the rhythm together, amazed at the mistake-free radio calisthenics of the Japanese staff.
