Learn about public telephones②

Learn about public telephones②

This week we’re talking about emergencies.

No money is required to call the police station 110, the Japan Coast Guard 118, or the fire department 119.
So, all you have to do is “pick up” the handset and then “press”
Be careful here!
that’s when payphones have red buttons.
This is called an emergency call button and is often located on the bottom of the phone.
In this case, when you pick up the phone, press the red button first, then the number.

How to make an emergency call
Pick up the phone → (Press the red button) → Press the emergency number

In a hurry, you may forget about this button.
If you can’t connect, look for this red button.

Next week, we will talk about how to use the phone about disasters.
