Experience TLS Classes Virtually Before Enrolling! Welcome to “Pre-College”

“What will my student life in Japan be like?” “Will I be able to keep up with the classes?” …If you are feeling a mix of excitement and anxiety, we have a very special program just for you! It is called “Pre-College,” an online event that TLS hosts every month. Today, we would like to give you a sneak peek into this event, where you can experience the real atmosphere of TLS from the comfort of your own home before coming to Japan!

As soon as you log in, you will hear a teacher’s cheerful voice saying, “Konnichiwa (Hello)!” It instantly feels as if you have warped right into one of TLS’s warm, welcoming online classrooms. The best part of Pre-College is that you get to participate in a “real live class,” not a pre-recorded video. You can see our actual teachers interacting dynamically with current students through the screen. Feeling the teacher’s enthusiasm and the energy of the class—things you cannot get just by looking at a textbook—will surely make you excited and think, “I want to study here!”

After the class, it is time for an “Online Chat Session,” where you can relax and talk with your senior peers. Here, you can ask questions casually in Japanese, or even in English or other languages you feel comfortable with. Our seniors living in Japan will kindly answer everything, from everyday life tips like “Are there any good places to eat near the dormitory?” and “How did you find a part-time job?” to advice about future career paths. Hearing these real, firsthand voices will also bring great peace of mind to your family members.



The greatest benefit of Pre-College is that it helps you visualize your future self. By listening to the stories of seniors who are already studying at TLS and taking steps toward their dreams, studying abroad will stop being just a plan. You will be able to clearly picture your future, thinking, “This time next year, I will be working hard in Japan just like them!” It is a truly meaningful time where your anxieties turn into anticipation.

“Pre-College” is held on the fourth Saturday of every month. This connection across the ocean will surely make your study abroad journey more concrete and rewarding. All of our staff and seniors are truly looking forward to the day we can meet you at our campus in Nishi-Kasai. Why not take your very first step through the screen online?



　「日本での留学生活、どんな毎日になるんだろう？」「授業についていけるかな？」……そんな期待と不安を抱えている皆さんに、ぜひ知ってほしい特別なプログラムがあります。それが、TLSが毎月開催しているオンラインイベント、「プレカレッジ」です。日本へ来る前に、自宅にいながらTLSの空気感を丸ごと体験できるこの日の様子を、少しだけご紹介します！

　画面を開くと、「こんにちは！」という先生の明るい声とともに、TLSならではの温かいオンライン教室に一瞬でワープしたような感覚になります。プレカレッジの醍醐味は、録画ではない「リアルなライブ授業」に参加できること。実際に教壇に立っている先生が、画面越しに明るく語りかけ、在校生たちと活発にやり取りする姿を目の当たりにできます。教科書を開くだけでは分からない、先生の熱意やクラスの活気を感じるうちに、「ここで一緒に学びたい！」というワクワクした気持ちが自然と湧いてくるはずです。

　授業の後は、先輩たちとリラックスして話せる「オンライン座談会」の時間です。ここでは、日本語だけでなく英語など自分の得意な言語を使って、ざっくばらんに質問ができます。「寮の近くにおいしいお店はある？」「アルバイトはどうやって探したの？」といった生活の知恵から、進路の相談まで、実際に日本で暮らす先輩たちが優しく答えてくれます。ご家族の方にとっても、現地の生の声を聞けるのは、大きな安心材料になるはずです。



　そして、このプレカレッジ最大の魅力は、「将来の自分の姿」を具体的にイメージできるようになることです。実際にTLSで学び、夢に向かって一歩踏み出している先輩たちの体験談を聞くことで、「来年の今頃は、私もこんな風に日本で頑張っているんだ！」と、留学がただの計画ではなく、確かな未来として描きやすくなります。不安が「楽しみ」に変わる、とても大切な時間です。

　「プレカレッジ」は毎月第4土曜日に開催しています。海を越えたつながりが、あなたの留学生活をより具体的で、実りあるものにきっと変えてくれます。いつか西葛西の校舎で皆さんに会える日を、スタッフ一同、そして先輩たちも心から楽しみに待っています。まずはオンラインの画面越しに、最初の一歩を踏み出してみませんか？
