みなさん、年末年始は、どのように過ごしましたか？
日本では、多くの人が新年に初詣（はつもうで）をします

初詣とは、年が明けてから初めて神社か
お寺を参拝することです
賽銭箱（さいせんばこ）にお金を投げ入れて、
去年一年を無事に過ごせたことを感謝したり、
今年一年の平安を願ったりします
入れる金額に決まりはありませんが、
「神様とご縁(ごえん)がありますように」という意味を込めて
五円(ごえん)を入れる人が多いです

また、おみくじを買って自分の今年一年の運勢を占う人もいます
おみくじは100円～300円程度で、神社で買うことができます
おみくじの中には、金運や健康、恋愛などについての運勢が書かれており、
今後どうすればいいかというアドバイスも書かれていますよ

みなさんも新たな一年の始まりに、
今年の運勢を占ってみてはいかがでしょうか？

First visit of the year to a shrine

How did you spend your New Year’s holiday?
In Japan, many people do a New Year’s visit to a shrine.


“Hatsumode” is the first visit to a shrine or temple after the New Year.
People throw money into a “saisen-bako” (money offering box) to express their gratitude for having spent the last year safely and to wish for peace and happiness in the coming year.
There is no set amount of money to put in, but many people put in 5 yen to express their desire to have a relationship with God.


Also, some people buy “omikuji” (a paper fortune) to predict their fortune for the year ahead.
Omikuji are around 100-300 yen and can be purchased at the shrine.
The omikuji contains information about your fortune in such areas as money, health, and love, as well as advice on what to do in the future.


Why don’t you try to read your fortune at the beginning of a new year?
