The Radio Project:

Broadcasting the Real Voices of International Students to the World

Since 2018 Toyo Language School and the radio program YES-fm have been broadcasting “NOW Study in Japan! Radio Station.” This year, recordings were aired featuring 13 students.

In the library, which had been transformed into a recording studio, a student from Turkey shared her thoughts about studying in Japan, saying “I can’t believe my Japanese is being broadcast on the radio…”In this fifth installment of the series, the students shared tips for traveling in their home countries, focusing on World Heritage sites, and provided insider information that only locals would know.


Starting in April 2024, “The Act on the Accrediting of Japanese Language Educational Institutes to Ensure Appropriate and Reliable Implementation of Japanese Language Education ” came into effect.

The government is working to improve the environment to accept the increasing number of foreign residents. This not only addresses the needs of foreign residents, but also emphasizes the need for Japanese citizens to understand and cooperate in a symbiotic society.

Through this radio program, we hope to introduce international students from all over the world to the Japanese audience. As the students who participated in the previous four series have unanimously expressed, we want them to feel their growth in Japan by hearing their own spoken Japanese broadcast on the radio.

2018年から始まった東洋言語学院とYES-fmとの協同プロジェクト、ラジオ番組『日本語を学ぶ留学生のNOW Study in Japan! Radio Station』。
今年度は13名の学生が収録に参加し、年末にかけて放送されました。

収録スタジオと化した図書室の前で、日本留学に対する思いの丈を話してくれたトルコの学生の第一声は「私の日本語がラジオで流れるなんて…」でした。
第5弾となる今回のシリーズでは、世界遺産を中心に自分の国を旅行するときのポイントや、地元の人ならではのとっておきの情報を発信しました。


令和6年4月から「日本語教育機関認定法」の施行も始まり、国は増加する在留外国人の受け入れ環境の整備を進めています。その中では、外国人だけでなく受け入れる側の日本人にも共生社会の実現について理解し協力する姿勢が必要だと述べられています。

私たちもこのラジオプログラムを通して、一人ひとり異なる留学生を日本の方々に知ってもらいたいと願っています。そして、これまでの4シリーズに参加してくれた学生達が口を揃えて言ってくれたように、ラジオから流れてくる自分の話した日本語を聞いて、日本での成長を感じてもらいたいです。
