Career development, research at university, experiencing Japanese culture and lifestyle…
It is not only for pursuing higher education or employment in Japan that people study abroad.Purely for language learning, for future careers, for research materials at university, and also to experience Japanese daily life can be one of the purposes.
Since international students come from various backgrounds, we conducted a survey to investigate the daily lives of graduated students and what kind of challenges they are facing. We have incorporated the situations and problem-solving methods gathered from the survey into the lessons. This is a unique Japanese language learning experience for international students that can only be offered by Toyo Language School, something you won’t find in any textbook.
One of the most significant aspects of studying Japanese in Japan is the multinational environment.TLS accepts students from 50 countries and regions, providing a learning environment where students can develop cross-cultural understanding and effective communication skills in a multinational environment.
While learning with classmates who have different values and ways of thinking, you will develop the ability to overcome conflicts and find better solutions, and learn about real-life Japanese usage situations that are not found in textbooks. We believe that this experience can enrich your future career and life.
Many students come to study Japanese with the aim of advancing their careers in their home countries (promotion, advancement, job change).Skills such as interpersonal communication in Japanese, a spirit of challenge, and the ability to adapt to different cultures are highly valued in career development in home countries. Individuals who can flexibly integrate Japanese thinking with their own cultural perspectives become valuable assets as “bridges” between companies and societies.
There are also cases where university students majoring in linguistics or Japanese literature in their home countries come to Japan. The purpose is to learn unique Japanese expressions and pronunciation through conversations with Japanese people, as well as to conduct comparative research between their home country’s literature and Japanese literature.Through elective classes that allow students to talk with local Japanese people on a certain theme, or classes that provide insights into Japanese values, students can experience Japanese in a more authentic way.
Many students develop an interest in the Japanese language through Japanese subcultures such as manga, anime, and video games.Additionally, some students come to Japan to experience its unique daily life.Whether you have a clear desire to experience something or just want to vaguely experience Japan, one of the real thrills of studying abroad is to grammatically analyze the Japanese you have encountered so far.

I decided to study in Japan because I want to conduct comparative research on Korean and Japanese literature at a graduate school in Korea. After watching movies or dramas, the experience of sharing stories and discussing our thoughts in Japanese with friends is something I could not have experienced without being in Japan. When comparing literature, what is important is the ability to understand what the author wants to convey, as well as the situation in the story and the emotions of the characters. Through my study abroad experience at TLS, I was able to not only improve my knowledge of proper Japanese but also enhance my ability to understand different ways of thinking and feeling.
